"Pacific Rim 2" casts are still being added as production slowly starts and among them is Mackenyu. The upcoming film has successfuly made it to the production stage despite the odds.

Mackenyu Accepts "Pacific Rim 2" Role

Mackenyu was happy to share the news and recently posted on his Twitter account that he is joining "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" as Ryoichi. For now, only his character's name has been revealed and his exact role in the film is still unknown yet. More details however, will likely be revealed as the film's production progresses.

 Other Casts Joining "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom"

The most notable actor to join the upcoming Jaeger film is John Boyega, one of the leading actors in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". He will join the upcoming movie as the son of Stacker Pentecost (played by Idris Elba). However, the lead character of the first installment, Raleigh Becket will not be returning. Charlie Hunnam said that his present work schedule has prevented him from joining the production of the second "Pacific Rim" film.

Other notable casts include Cailee Spaeny who got the role as female character in the film despite having limited screen experience. She is however, a noted pop singer. Scott Eastwood is already in Australia to start work in the upcoming "Pacific Rim" film. The son of legendary actor Clint Eastwood, he played a part in the "Suicide Squad" film.

Ron Pearlman who played Hannibal Chau in the first installment is rumored to return. Rinko Kikuchi who played the lead female role, Mako Mori has also not been confirmed of appearing in the upcoming movie.

When Will "Pacific Rim 2" Aka "Maelstrom" Come Out?

The release of the second installment of "Pacific Rim" has been set on February 23, 2018, according to the official "Pacific Rim" web site. However, it should be noted that the film has been delayed and even shelved earlier by Universal Studios. Hopefully, the production will go as planned so it could it meet its target release date.
