‘Gears of War 4’ News: Movie In The Works At Universal, Film Will Be A Straight Adaptation Of The Games? [VIDEO]

By

The movie adaptation of Microsoft's "Gears of War" video game franchise is in the works at Universal. Dylan Clark and Scott Stuber will serve as the producers of the adaptation through their Universal based company, Bluegrass Films.

A movie based on the popular third-person shooter video game series has been rumored for years, but Rod Fergusson, studio head of The Coalition, stated that now is the right time to fire up film, according to Variety.

Fergusson said that as a way to support the popular third-person shooter franchise, the next logical step was to make the film. Fergusson added that they've done comics and novels in the past, but the opportunity to collaborate with Universal Studios to bring the "Gears of War" movie to life was perfect.

But it is not confirmed whether the motion picture will be a straight adaptation of the video games, which originally followed the primary protagonist Marcus Fenix in his fight against an invading threat called the Locust, or if the film will be an all-new story set in the universe.

However, Microsoft gets hold of the Gears series in 2014 and co-creator Fergusson returned to be in charge of The Coalition. "Gears of War 4" is set for launch on October 11, 2016 as tech company's blockbuster holiday release for Xbox One and Windows 10, based on the report of The Hollywood Reporter.

The "Gears of War 4" is set on the planet Sera, in which the video game plunges players into a battle for survival between humans and creatures known as the Locust Horde.

Anyway, when Microsoft released the DX12-powered Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on PC earlier this year, it was a stuttering mess. But, Microsoft and The Coalition learned a lot from the fiasco, because the Windows 10 version of the video game runs like it was made for PC, Kotaku reported.
