Apple iPad Mini 5 Release Date, Specs, Features And Price Revealed; A Thinner Next-Gen iPad In The Works?
Apple is slated to take the wraps off the next-gen iPad Mini 5 along with the MacBook Pro 2016 and the iPhone 7. According to lauded tipster Evan Blass, the iPad Mini 5 will hit the store shelves in company with other products from the Cupertino-based tech firm in early September, which will include the iPhone 7 and its variants.
Rumors are running rampant that the imminent iPad Mini will be comparatively thinner than last gen's iPad Mini 4 which was 6.1mm in thickness. The upcoming svelte model will only be 5mm thin. This could be a clear indication that the 3.5mm jack will be ousted from the imminent iPad Mini model.
Apple iPad Mini 5 Specs
Taking into consideration a slew of reports, hints and speculations doing rounds online, this is the iPad Mini 5 possible specs.
If rumors proved to be true, Apple iPad Mini 5 will cling to the same 7.9-inch display, same 8-megapixel and 12-megapixel rear and front cameras of iPad Mini 4.
In addition, rumor mills have been swirling speculations around the iPad Mini 5 hinting it will pack a less-powerful battery as opposed to last gen's robust 5124mAh battery.
On the flip side, the device will be powered by the latest A9 processor that is more power-efficient than the old A8 processor that the iPad Mini 4 came with. The new A9 processors offer enhanced graphics and higher display resolution, PC Tablet reported.
But that's not all, the 3D Touch pressure-sensitive screen currently donned by Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is rumored to make a move onto the iPad lineup, and latest reports suggest that the upcoming iPad Mini 5 will pack this feature.
The much-awaited iPad Mini 5 will come with iOS 10 pre-installed, and this will definitely add an array of new features as well as some modifications to the interface design.
The inclusion of iOS 10 could pave the way for quite a few rumored features including Dark Mode. A way of using an iOS device, in this case the iPad Mini 5 with a dark background contrary to the conventional white background found on new devices. Although the Dark Mode feature was not announced at WWDC 2016, there is a possibility that the feature might be unveiled at a later date, MacWorld reported.
Also, avid iPad Mini fans would be hoping that this is the end of 16 GB iPad and that Apple will announce a 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB models of the iPad Mini 5; however there is no evidence to support that yet. The iPad Mini 5 will be up for grabs for the same price point.
Rumors doing rounds online hint the device could be housed in the comparatively lighter and robust Series 7000 aluminium body.
