Looks like a bad news for "Splatoon" fans as the next Splatfest will be the final Splatfest.

While the excitement in Inkopolis continue to roll on, Nintendo recently announced that the Splatoon's sixteenth Splatfest will be its last. The concluding community event for the popular game that revolves around characters dubbed as inklings, will take place across the globe in July.

In-game commentators Callie and Marie will go toe-to-toe in a popularity contest and the leading Splatoon players from every region will be honored in what would be the last showcase event.

Continuing with the trend of previous Splatfest events, players will need to pick their side that they will represent in a weekend series of "Splatoon" multiplayer battles.

Based on victories and player reputation, a winner will be picked. At the event's closure, all participating players will be able to get their hands on stat-boosting items, while members of the winning team will be awarded with additional bonuses, DigitalTrends reported.

Previous Splatfest events in North America consists of:

• Burgers vs. Pizza
• Cats vs. Dogs
• Autobots vs. Decepticons

In a bid to pay tribute to "Splatoon" fanatics, Nintendo will honor the Splatfest's top 100 players (in each region). Japan-based players will be matched up with players in Japan, and players in North America and Europe will be matched up with those in America and Europe.

The top 100 players for each region will be announced separately. Nintendo noted that although the results will be compiled from all regions, they will be added together and announce at the same time.

In-game voting and announcement will commence at 7 PM PT on Monday, July 4. Splatoon's last Splatfest event will start on July 22, at 2 a.m. PT. Festivities will end on July 24.
