National Signing Day 2016: Deontay Anderson Announces Ole Miss Pick After Jumping Out of a Plane
ByCoach Hugh Freeze and the Ole Miss football program would probably love nothing more than to not see a player or a recruit jump out of a plane.
But when four-star safety Deontay Anderson did so, he technically was not committed to play college football anywhere. The Manvel, Texas prospect announced his decision to commit to Ole Miss upon reaching the ground.
In the Bleacher Report video, Anderson fell through hoops with the logos of his three finalists: LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas. After he landed, he unzipped his suit and revealed a red t-shirt that read "Hotty Toddy."
By 247 Sports' composite ratings, Anderson is the second overall safety in the nation and Ole Miss has the fourth overall incoming recruiting class. Anderson is Freeze's 13th four-star recruit.
ESPN ranks Anderson the top safety in the calls and 41st overall on the 2016 ESPN 300. Freeze's activity on National Signing Day has also propelled Ole Miss to second overall on ESPN's class rankings, trailing only SEC West foe LSU.
247 Sports also listed Anderson as a returner and ranked him second overall in the nation in that regard. Among his highest rated skills are speed, instincts, and ball skills.
