Signing of the Stars Live Stream: Watch Michigan's National Signing Day Event Online
ByMichigan's "Signing with the Stars" event is not just a ploy to grab headlines, or a charity event, but while it is both those things it could easily become must-watch television.
Jim Harbaugh has used some truly surprising, strange recruiting tactics in the name of keeping Michigan football in the news cycle, but Signing with the Stars is the headlining act of the whole show.
The Players Tribune will air the event live on its website, starting at 11:30 a.m. ET.
The University of Michigan made it a ticketed event at the Hill Auditorium and will accept donations for the ChadTough Foundation. Chad Carr, the grandson of all-time great Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr, died at age five from brain cancer and the foundation seeks to "fund research and raise awareness for Pediatric Brain Tumors with an emphasis on Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma."
Michigan alums, hometown heroes, athletes and celebrities like Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Ric Flair, Desmond Howard, Jim Leyland, and many more will read the names of recruits who sign letters of intent with the school. One of the names all Michigan fans want to hear someone (and perhaps specifically Brady or Howard will get this one) is Rashan Gary.
The consensus number-one prospect in the nation, Gary is a dominant defensive tackle who has apparently narrowed his decision to Michigan or Clemson. 247 Sports' Crystal Ball makes Michigan the favorite. His announcement is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
247 Sports, ESPN, and Rivals all rank Harbaugh's incoming recruiting class among the 10 best in the nation, but it could shoot up a few spots depending on how the coach fares on National Signing Day. Michigan appears to be on the radar for a number of other ESPN 300 prospects.
