AP Poll Rankings College Football 2015 Week 5: Michigan, Florida Enjoying a Day Back in the Sun

By

Over the past couple seasons, seeing Florida and Michigan nationally ranked at the same time was a rare sight, and it never happened at any point last season.

According to The Associated Press, the two teams made the Top 25 College Football Poll for the first time since 2013. Michigan blanked 22-ranked BYU 31-0 at home and Florida pulled off a comeback win over Tennessee at home.

Both teams' stay in the AP Top 25 may be short lived, as Florida hosts Ole Miss (3) next weekend and Michigan visits Maryland before returning to the Big House to host Northwestern (16) and Michigan State (2) in consecutive weeks.

Though no one in Ann Arbor is expecting Jim Harbaugh to bring home a major bowl game win in his first season, he was able to lead Michigan to more than two consecutive wins for the first time in more than a year. The Wolverines are also looking up at both Michigan State and Ohio State (1) in the Big Ten East.

As for the Buckeyes, their win over Western Michigan seemed to be business as usual, keeping the lion's share of first place votes with 45. Despite remaining in second place, Michigan State's five first place votes were second to Ole Miss' 10.

Claiming one first place vote was Utah (10), who shot up eight places in the poll after drubbing Oregon 62-20 in Eugene. The rest of the top 10 was relatively static. TCU (4) technically dropped one place, though they were tied for third last week with Ole Miss. Following was Baylor (5), Notre Dame (6), UCLA (7), Georgia (8), and LSU (9).

Though the Pac-12 made nice strides in the AP poll with UCLA and Utah climbing, it came at the expense of Arizona and Oregon falling off the Top 25 for suffering dismal home losses to the former. Also on their way out were  Georgia Tech, BYU, and Missouri.
