An annual cost of $11,773 led the Lee University to top the list of affordable Christian colleges in the United States, according to a Christian Universities Online survey.
Brian Conn, director of public relations at the Lee University, said that the school always tries to maintain tuition at affordable prices through fundraising events for new buildings. "We treat money at Lee like it's our own personal money, and hold onto it tight and are cautious about spending," Conn said. Times Free Press reports.
The ranking of affordability was based on data from the National Center for Educational Statistics and factors like financial aid and other funding sources that offset tuition costs.
"Many universities and colleges have developed very aggressive financial aid packages and have other unique sources of funding that reduce what may be very expensive tuition costs to a more manageable level for lots of students," the Christian Universities Online said in a statement.
Lee is followed by the College of the Ozarks with an average net price of $12,073.
"Christian values and character, hard work and financial responsibility" are the foundation stones for this institution. Students, who are found worthy of a Christian education but do not have the financial means to pay, are always encouraged to attend the institution.
Full-time students work 15 hours at their respective campus work stations. This work experience translates into an advantage for graduates when entering into a workforce.
At No. 3 is Louisiana College with an average net price of $13,784. Over 70 majors, minors and pre-professional programs are offered along with focus on a number of student activities that develop students' leadership, community service and physical wellness.
