Police officials have arrested one of the suspects in the fatal shooting of 20-year-old South Carolina State University student, Brandon A. Robinson, Friday afternoon.

Justin Bernard Singleton, 19, of Charleston has been charged with murder. He was arrested after midnight at the parking lot of an apartment complex in Orangeburg. Singleton is currently being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center.

"At this time, we believe we have the individual who fired the shot," Thom Berry, a public information officer with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, said, Miami Herald reports.

Now the police officials are looking for the other three individuals responsible for the murder of the football player.

Campus police responded to a call from the Andrew Hugine Suites Living and Learning community, a dorm complex, about 1:30 p.m., Friday and found the injured player. Robinson was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead later.

As soon as word of the shooting spread, the college campus was placed on lock down for a few hours.

"We are saddened by the loss of one of our own students," university President Thomas J. Elzey said in a statement. "Our deepest condolences go to the family of the victim. He was a very nice young man. And it hurts. It hurts us all. We are pulling together as a community. Our first order of business is to make sure that our students are safe."

Robinson of Orangeburg was a defensive lineman on the school's football team, Bulldogs. He attended Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.

Police said that eyewitnesses identified four suspects who had left the campus. They are yet to determine the motive for the murder of the 6-foot tall, 230 pound redshirt junior.

"This agency is assisting the Sheriff's Office and we are actively engaged in a manhunt," Orangeburg Department of Public Safety Capt. Mike Adams, according to NY Daily News.

The National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action states that South Carolina permits residents to purchase a rifle or shotgun. But it is illegal to carry firearms on public or private school property.

This is the third campus shooting this week. The Tippecanoe County prosecutor's office has formally slapped murder charges against Cody Cousins, a 23-year-old Purdue University student, in connection to the shooting death of a fellow teaching assistant Andrew Boldt, Tuesday

On Monday, a Pennsylvania undergraduate student was shot and seriously injured in a parking lot near the Schwartz Athletic Center, Widener University, at around 8:45 p.m. on Monday. Police are still hunting for the suspect.
