For some people, it's obvious when it's time to move on from a job and for some it's not so clear. Here are 10 reasons or signs to consider in making a decision.

No challenge

A Korn Ferry International survey found that 73 percent of nearly 2,000 professional said they plan to be in the job market because they are looking for a challenge.  

Companies are hiring

According to Robert Half Technology 16 percent of US CIOs plan to expand their technology teams in the first half of 2017. Another 69 percent will hire IT positions as it is really hard to find skilled IT professionals today.

Freelance Offers

According to CareerBuilder's 2017 job forecast, 51 percent of employers plan to hire temporary workers in 2017, which is an up from 47 percent last year.

Being Underpaid

According to Paysa more than one-third of tech professionals are underpaid by 10% or more.

Wages climb too slow

According to Computer Economics' 2017 IT Salary Report, IT workers will receive a 2.8 percent pay raise.

Need For Data scientist

Data engineers are in high demand and it's hard to resist changing jobs when multiple companies are after talent. Postings for big data engineers jumped 92 percent nationally in 2016.

Change of culture

The culture and values of the organization are the largest predictor for employee satisfaction according to Glassdoor. It accounts for 22.1 percent of overall satisfaction.

401(k) plans

Companies found that today's workers are interested in more practical benefits such as health care and the 401(k) plans.

Change of Location

About 48 percent of respondents to Dice's semi-annual survey said they're offering to pay relocation costs for new hires. With the right skills, one can easily move to a new city.

Time to move on

In a 2016 survey from Spiceworks, 37% of IT professionals said they plan to begin searching for a new employer in 2017, and 26% plan to accept a new job.
