Chance the Rapper announced a $1 million dollar donation to Chicago Public Schools earlier this month. In response to his generosity, three CPS students, Alex Rojas, Alondra Cerros, and Annelisse Betancourt of Lake View High School had shared an open letter for Chance.

The children showed their gratitude expressing how Chance was one of the many celebrities from Chicago to care and give back to the youth.  the full letter was posted through the Billboard website.

The letter mentioned Chance as their inspiration and thanked him for representing the youth of Chicago not only through music but also through his actions. They acknowledged his numerous contributions to Chicago Public Schools, which have struggled financially for the past years.

The Pitchfork reported that the students also showed their appreciation for all of Chance's free concerts and that they look up to him for being humble. They also addressed his support of the anti-violence movement, the #SaveChicago campaign in 2014, which resulted to 42 hours without a gun-related homicide in Chicago.

In response to the letter, Chance tweeted how much he appreciated the letter and that huge things were to come over the next 2 weeks.

Michelle Obama also thanked Chance the Rapper for his donation to the CPS foundation for arts and enrichment programs. Chance's frustrating meeting with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner after discussing state funding for the school systems led him to the decision of donating $1 million. He said the donation will be made possible through ticket sales for his upcoming spring tour according to The Rolling Stone.

Aside from ticket sales, joint efforts from promoters and venues will also help raise the donation. Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, known professionally as Chance the Rapper, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from the West Chatham, Chicago, Illinois. The musician encourages fans to donate through his website.
