On Tuesday, Rocky Mountain Elementary School had a Career Day that had presenters from various professions. A veterinarian, airplane designer and a chemical engineer to name a few, had come to share wonderful opportunities about their profession.

When organizers began planning on November, they were surprised by the number of people who volunteered to present for career day. One presenter was Brian Grasmick, a chemical engineer for 3M in Montrose. He gave the kids an interactive presentation about chemistry, which the kids really enjoyed.

Teachers hope that the career day experience will help students begin to think about college and their future careers. Students enjoyed the day, such as Chandra Rea, a fifth grade student, said that it was really cool for her to see how things work around the world and how and what they can be when they grow up.

According to Western Slope Now, many at the event have agreed that it is important to get the children interested in their future careers at a young age. Grismack said that at some point he was going to retire and the children were going to be the next ones to take over. They will be the ones to design everything to make life better.

Grismack added that it is important to start early and show interest in them so that they will bloom to become better professionals. With this year's success, teachers at Rocky Mountain Elementary School hope to have another career day next year.

In an effort to help kids choose the right career for their future, Kids.org has a list of careers and professions on their website that kids may find interest in and want to consider when they reach college. The website has categories for kids that are in fifth grade, 6^th to 9^th grader teens, and even for teachers and parents who want to get involved.
