Android 7.0 Nougat update continue to roll out and the latest device to get a bump is reportedly the Motorola Moto Z Play. While this development may not mean much to Android device phone owners, looking at the rate of the update on Motorola’s end since being placed under the Lenovo banner shows otherwise.

Before, the Motorola line would have updates in timely fashion. Somehow, all that changed along the way with Motorola device owners frowning. For the Moto Z Play, getting a bump to Android 7.0 Nougat is a big thing, especially considering it is one of the low end and oldest models in the Moto Z lineup, Android Police reported. Regardless, the Moto Z Play has been praised for its longevity and hopefully, the new update will not bring in issues such as altering the battery life span.

Word of an Android 7.0 Nougat coming for the Moto Z Play gained some ground following soak tests done on the device. So far, everything seems to be running smoothly with the update expected to commence on March 13. The update will include only the November 2016 security patches, meaning Daydream compatibility is not included. A reason seen is because the device carries lower specs such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC and lower screen resolution.

The release notes of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Motorola Moto Z Play can be seen in full on the Motorola website. Among the features, Moto Z Play owners can expect to include the quick switch between apps, multi-window view, and work mode. Other notable improvements show customized settings and a fingerprint sensor for screen locks.

Like other Android updates, Moto Z Play owners should make sure that their device is at least 50-percent charged and done under a stable WiFi network. Users should also take note that once the update is applied, they can no longer downgrade to the previous OS version.
