Top smartphone manufacturers are gunning for bezel-less screens and button-less front parts for their upcoming handsets. Xiaomi has followed the trend for the Mi Mix 2.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is reportedly equipped with a 93 percent screen-to-body ratio, Phone Arena reported from MyDrivers. The smartphone's predecessor was initially reported to have a 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio, but that decreased to an 84.16 screen-to-body ratio when it was released to the public.

It's possible that the 93 percent screen-to-body ratio of the Mi Mix 2 is also a gross exaggeration, though. In comparison, the Galaxy S7 Edge has a screen ratio of 76.1 percent and the LG G6 is at 78.37 percent.

The Mi Mix 2 will take on Apple's iPhone 8, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 in this front. The latter was confirmed to have an immersive display that will take the user's viewing experience to the next level.

The Galaxy S8, meanwhile, will reportedly have the Infinity Display to completely remove the physical home button. The device's fingerprint sensor is expected to be placed beside the primary camera.

An edge-to-edge 5.8-inch OLED panel for the iPhone 8 is expected, with its home button also removed but with a "function area" replacing it. The highly anticipated handset will have less top and size bezels for a bigger screen.

The Mi Mix 2 will reportedly have an in-display fingerprint sensor, too, in keeping with its bezel-less screen. Xiaomi boasted that the upcoming smartphone will be the first of its kind to have a fingerprint scanner embedded into the display, Indian Express reported.

The device's body will be made out of ceramic. It is expected to be equipped with the same ultrasound technology seen in the Mi Mix. That tech from Elliptic Labs replaces the proximity sensor on the screen, allowing the device's display to go black while the user is on a call. It also removes the need for a top bezel.

Like its predecessor, the phone will likely have a 6.4-inch display with support for 2K format. Other possible specs include Android 7.0 Nougat, MIUI 9, dual cameras and a front-facing telescopic shooter with LED flash.

The Mi Mix 2 is expected to launch in the latter part of this year just like Apple intended release date for the iPhone 8. What do you think of the Xiaomi device's nearly bezel-less display? Will you buy the handset? Sound off in the comments section below!
