The American Cancer Society is organizing the Relay For Life of Texas Tech University. The fund raising event will happen at the West Rec Turf Fields on April 21.

The aim of the American Cancer Society is to bring together cancer survivors, volunteers, caregivers and community members for the annual Relay For Life of Texas Tech University. The event and its organizers wants to raise awareness and knowledge that there is hope. Their efforts are focused towards freeing the world from the pain and suffering of cancer.

The funds raised by Relay For Life will help the American Cancer Society in providing assistance and support for people who are suffering from the illness. The generated funds will also help boost resources for cancer research, as reported by Everything Lubbock.

The event is going to center around teams taking turns walking or running on a particular track. On Texas Tech University's West Rec Turf Fields, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life is going to happen on April 21 between 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

For those eager to participate in the American Cancer Society's scores for awareness and research funding, there are also events leading up to April 21. Recently, cancer survivor Misty Russell kicks off the Relay For Life fund raising program at Roseburg on Tuesday, as reported by The News Review.

Russell has survived cancer twice in her life and speaking during the recent kick off, she explains how she wants for everyone who has been diagnosed with cancer to survive. She was told by a doctor at the Oregon Health & Science University that she would lose her leg after being diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. The second time, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now, she is cancer free.

During this particular event at Roseburg, teams walked a track to raise funds. The whole relay included 454 participants or 38 teams in total. Russell shares the same goal as The American Cancer Society. Everyone participating in the event believes they can win against cancer.
