Bethesda, the Maryland-based game publishing giant, has another big news this week. Bethesda's very popular MMORPG "The Elder Scrolls Online" has just hit over 1.5 million copies in the past eight months. Game developer and tech partner Zenimax Online Studios made the big announcement this week.

Elder Scrolls Online Hits Major Milestone

Game director Matt Firor announced that the MMORPG has just sold around 8.5m copies in total, a sudden increase from the 7 million sold copies that has been announced last year, GamePlanet reported.

Like the other MMORPGs in the market, "The Elder Scrolls Online" originally used a per-month subscription model, but has been abolished on March 2015 and then renamed as "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited". PS4 and Xbox One console versions were announced and released in June 2015.

However, the game director made no further mention of the active player figures or total numbers of active online subscriptions. Game developer Zenimax has managed to turn things around despite a shaky start. Now, it appears to have grown fast, gaining strength each day.

And more is still to come as Bethesda announce another major expansion, the much-anticipated and most talked update Morrowind. Many believe that this will only bring even more players on board.

For a starter, "The Elder Scrolls Online" is an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing) game and the first open-ended multiplayer installment in the Elder Scrolls series. It was developed by Zenimax Online Studios and published by Bethesda.

Just like the other games in The Elder Scrolls series, "The Elder Scrolls Online" is set in a far-flung place called Tamriel and features a storyline that indirectly connected with the other Elder Scrolls games. The game has been in development for seven grueling years before its release in the wild in 2014.

TES 6 To Enter Production Stage

Rumors are rife on the web that Bethesda might now have entered development production. According to GamingBolt, which is the first one to reveal the job listing story, the recent job posting from the studio is believed to have something to do with the game sequel, "The Elder Scrolls 6."

The website points out that the vacant position, which is about an animation, is primarily for Zenimax Studios, which is the video game company's parent company. The role is to simply be the new artist for an unannounced title.

As of this writing, the studio hasn't revealed anything about the new Elder Scrolls game, nothing even a hint. Bethesda's Peter Hines is light when it comes to this matter.

The sequel, including the release date, will continue to exist in forms of speculations and never-ending rumors. As for the game development stage, players should not take this seriously, instead takes this with a grain of salt.
