Twitch, the very popular video game live streaming platform, is adding a new feature to help users discover content and reach the right audience. Twitch made the big announcement this week.

Twitch Introduces New Feature Called Communities

According to TechCrunch, the live streaming platform has just introduced a new site feature called Communities, which allows content creators and viewers to better discover and share contents based on their own interests.

The new feature is said to empower users to self-organize into interest- or activity-based spaces. The new feature will also help content creators/live streamers connect with their most relevant audience, and viewers in finding the content they are most interested in.

Twitch said that all eligible viewers and content creators are now able to create and discover Communities which are accessible in a new open beta directory.

The Communities And Its Components

According to CNET, Twitch is providing its users a suite of tools to create groups of their choosing, while providing content creators with another tool to expand their target audiences.

With that suite of tools, Community leaders will now able to establish a certain rule, customize the landing page, appoint community moderators and even feature current live stream for maximum exposure.

And since Communities are all public, both viewers and content creators can see a list of channels currently broadcasting in the site.

Additionally, the new feature is equipped with the following components:

• Stream wall: displays live content from content creators who have chosen to broadcast to the Community.
• Community Directory: This is the place where the viewers can discover the most relevant Communities and where the content creators can target the best-fit audience for their live stream.
• Personalization: This is how the Community's personality can be expressed with specific rules, banner, customizable avatar, and also designated Community Leader.
• Moderation tools: This includes the moderation tools and the ability to ban or time out channels that go against the rules of the Twitch community.
