"Vikings" season 5 creator Michael Hirst had chat with few websites to reveal what fans should watch out for in the upcoming chapter. In addition, he also opened up about the series' last two seasons and its possible endpoint.

'Vikings' Season 5 Opens With A Burial

Though the written history about Vikings details a lot of deaths, the killing of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) has always been considered as one of the show's shocking scenes. Everybody thought that his children will finally have one great army together until Ivar (Alex High) throws an axe to his brother Sigurd (David Lindstrom), killing him in instant.

This became the season finale of season 4, and according to Hirst, "Vikings" season 5 will begin with Sigurd's burial. Fans will also see Ivar's weep, saying that he never meant to kill his brother. However, this does not stop Ragnar's sons to split up.

Based on Hirst interview with Variety, it seems like "Vikings" Season 5 will have new settings in the premiere and in the whole chapter. As the above-mentioned note, Ragnar's son split up into different camps.

"A large part of the next season will be about, will it be like this great Roman conflict after Caesar's death, the great Roman civil wars with Brutus and Cassius and Octavian?" described Hirst.

On the other hand, when asked about Sigurd's sudden death in the hands of Ivar, Hirst explained to Screener TV that the series is a "drama" and is not a documentary. Lindstrom's character, in the written history, becomes a major part of Vikings, however, Hirst wanted to show "the total volatility of these relationships - and certainly introduce Ivar as a guy who will not back down, ever"

'Vikings' Season 5 Creator Talks More Seasons and Endpoint

Meanwhile, when Hirst was asked about the show's endpoint, he somewhat gave a little information about "Vikings" season 5 and two more seasons.

The 64-year-old showrunner revealed that after Ragnar's death, the story still went on and they had so many great new actors in it. Adding on, with these artists, he is pretty sure that they can still make another two seasons

"I'm just writing the last two episodes of Season 5. I could tell you things that would blow your mind - things we've shot in Season 5 are amazing," Hirst said. "I think we will be able to end the show the way we intended to."

"Vikings" season 5 is set to return some time later this year.
