Fear is coming home as "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" opens its doors once again and channeling its roots to bring a true horror that can also be played in the PlayStation VR Mode.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" plot

The game is set in a plantation in modern-day rural America that immediately takes place after the events of "Resident Evil 6." According to Gamestop, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" delivers a disturbingly realistic experience defining the next era of horror entertainment.

While "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" draws from its roots of survival horror, the game also promises a completely new level of terror by exploring and surviving the horrors that will be encountered within a mysterious and sprawling estate.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" with PlayStation VR

It took four years before Capcom heeded the clamor of fans for "Resident Evil" to return to its survival-horror roots, and it has. However, Gamerant reported that "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be sort of a departure from the series norm. The report stated that the game would be played entirely from a first-person perspective.

Playing "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" on a first-person perspective opens the game up for virtual reality. Though the game can still be playable without PlayStation VR, it would be up to the player to play through the game in virtual reality for a more immersive experience.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" crowd reaction in VR

During E3 last year, "Resident Evil: Biohazard" was one of the VR centerpieces that those who has tried the game demo got a real shocker, according to Cinemablend. Accordingly, what made the game so terrifying is its first-person perspective that is obvious from the crowd reactions that the VR has done its job well.

Furthermore, shifting the perspective eliminates the displacement one gets playing the game from a third-person perspective; rather, it makes the player become part of the action. Potentially, the E3 experiment proves how powerful an atmospheric horror game can truly be when played in a well-executed VR environment.

"Resident Evil: Biohazard" is coming for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, and the Xbox One on Jan 24, 2017.
