SpaceX is all up for its upcoming project "Red Dragon" in search for a new habitat where humans can thrive to live. Elon Musk envisioned the future living in another planet specifically Earth's neighbor, Planet Mars.

According to Space News, SpaceX's "Red Dragon" expedition will send out an unmanned space probe to planet Mars to know if it can pull off a soft landing on the Red Planet. Mars has a long-standing notoriety of being able to host human lives. Hence, more research is needed to prove such claims.

Hence, Elon Musk simply focused the direction of SpaceX exploration in being the first space research entity to prove Mars capacity of supporting human lives. Musk plans to field heavy payloads on Mars to pave the way for human settle men in the Red Planet.

SpaceX will launch series of unmanned "Red Dragons" at every probable time starting 2018. Such timing, however, only arrives every 26 months when Earth and Mars align. The Dragons will land the Red Planet equipped with SuperDraco thrusters as it goes through the Martian atmosphere. No other space agency used this tactic before that is why NASA is uncertain with its position for the probe.

That is why NASA has denied Elon Musk's SpaceX the scientific equipment support for its Mars probe. NASA's Planetary Science Division Head Jim Green said during the annual fall meeting of American Geophysical Union (AGU) that the organization will wait for a result of SpaceX Mars mission before it spends millions of dollars. However, the company has pledged its technical support for "Red Dragon" in part of Space Act Agreement whereas they will receive data and findings from the Mars Landing.

On another news, NASA has awarded another two contracts for SpaceX for space taxi trips to and from the International Space Station. Elon Musk's space agency now has sic contracts in total, Geek Wire reported.
