After years of waiting, manga fans will have something to look forward to this year as Hiro Mashima's "Fairy Tail," which debuted back in 2009 will be seizing movie theaters in Spring 2017 with its second feature film "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry." The confirmation came after Mashima himself tweeted about it.

It can be recalled that "Fairy Tail" became one of Japan's most recognizable franchises with the popular adventures of Natsu Dragneel and the Fairy Tail guild, which is set in a fictional Earth. It has been five years since the first anime film "Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess" hit Japan theaters.

Back in May 2015, Kodansha's "Weekly Shonen Magazine" confirmed that the feature film is coming and with the announcement made with finality by the distribution studio GAGA, it sure made fans thrilled over the treat specifically that it came after years of patiently waiting. Sources added that the first title image released by GAGA looks sleek as one would hope it to be.

Competitions is also stiffer for this particular film and anime fans will have to kick their otaku-ness into high gear as other highly anticipated films are also said to be released during that time, Comic Book reported. An official twitter account for the film has also been created so fans will be updated on the film's premier information as the year moves along.

It is worth noting that it has been years since fans heard any big news about the "Fairy Tail" movie and this sure is something worthwhile to be waited for until Spring. The manga already inspired two television anime, several previous original video anime projects and spinoff manga, Anime News Network reported.

To date there are more than 250 episodes of the acclaimed series and fans can expect more to come this year.
