HTC is reportedly working on a new phablet - the HTC Ocean Note that will offer a camera that might be able to take on Google's Pixel, a curved display with improved audio performance sans headphone jack.

Reports indicate that HTC will introduce the new flagship phablet in the first month of 2017, it is not clear though if it will be unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 that will commence this week. According to Phone Arena, they speculate that the HTC Ocean Note is the HTC U Ultra and it will be unveiled during the HTC Event to be held on Jan. 12, 2017.

HTC Ocean Note specs

The initial report is that HTC will follow the iPhone 7's lead by ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack. In place, HTC Ocean Note will use USB-C port for its audio. According to Gizbot, HTC will equip the HTC Ocean note with an adaptive audio technology to compensate for ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack. The technology according to the report will automatically adjust the audio settings based on any ambient noise.

The Note will reportedly have a screen size between 5.5-inches to 5.7-inches. Some reports say the device might go even further at 6-inches. Leaked renders of the device show there are no physical keys or buttons in front, however, it also shows that the HTC Ocean note will have a curved screen and the other selling point will be its camera.

Reportedly, HTC claims it got the "highest ranking from DxOMark," a title currently being held by Google Pixel with a score of 89. HTC previous model the HTC 10 got 88 so an improvement of 2 points or more with the HTC Ocean Note is not far-fetched.

Reports claim that the HTC Ocean Note will come in three colors. Additionally, it will be powered by MediaTek chipsets. The unit is reportedly being groomed for release in time for the Chinese New Year, which will fall on Jan. 28, 2017 this year.
