TIME collated an unranked list of the best inventions of 2016. These are the things that are making the world better, brighter and more exciting. Check out parts one, two and three.

Smart Thermometer

No-touch thermometers have become all the rage in recent years. It uses infrared technology to provide an accurate and quick measurement of core body temperature.

It was noted that the Arc InstaTemp is one of the best smart thermometers in the market today. It is able to give the patient's temperature in 2.5 seconds. It is also has colors as codes for different readings.

Artificial Pancreas

Medtronic created the MiniMed 670G, which is also known as artificial pancreas, so that people with diabetes will no longer need to continually check and adjust their blood sugar. It has recently gain approval from the FDA and is expected to be in the market next year.

According to CNN, the system will be the one continuously monitoring the patient's glucose levels and will provide the necessary insulin to the patient. It will come with a glucose meter, an insulin pump as well as an infusion patch connected to the pump, which has a tiny catheter for insulin.

Fun Prostheses

Traditional prostheses were not designed with fun in mind. However, while that may be fine with adults, it may hinder younger patients and cause them to feel left out by their peers.

IKO, a prosthetic arm created by Carlos Arturo Torres, was created with kids in mind. Children who lost an arm can now replace their previous arm with something that can be substituted with other toy-like attachments.

The Telegraph described it as a "build-your-own" Lego prosthetic for kids. It is also customizable with different colors and accessories.
