Last August, MediaTek announced its Helio X30 processor (codenamed MT6799) that will be equipped with two Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.8 GHz, which will work for a smartphone's workflows. Now, recent news suggest that the chipset is spotted on GeekBench's benchmarking database.

Based on the GeekBench listing, the Helio X30 processor marked a single-core GeekBench 4 score around 1,500, which is lower than the majority of Snapdragon 820 phones tested. Some reports indicate that the low rating on the tests could be represented by the difference on clocking speed. The press release of the chip stated that it runs on 2.0GHz frequency, whereas the device spotted on GeekBench was running the X30 clocked at 1.59GHz.

Against other units, MediaTek Helio X30 chipset's scores also produce a rather lower rating. The Huawei Mate 9's 4x Cortex-A73 cores manages a higher single-core result at around 1,900 points compared to the Helio X30.

However, the Helio X30 test unit outperforms all the Snapdragons in multi-core tests, according to MobiPicker.

When the chipset was announced four months ago, the MediaTek Helio X30 processor comprises up of Cortex-A73, Cortex-A53, and Cortex-A35 cores. In addition, the upcoming processor will reportedly provide support for either a Cat.10 or Cat.12 LTE modem, along with triple baseband carrier aggregation, WCCFTech learned.

Following past reports, Helio X30 processor will feature 8GB of LPDDR4 memory and support for the UFS 2.1 memory standard. The deca-core chipset is said to use ARM's power-sipping A35 cores that will offer less energy consumption for devices.

Built using TSMC's 10nm FinFET process, MediaTek's Helio X30 deca-core will carry two Cortex-A73 cores, clocked at 2.8 GHz, to support tough tasks and workflows on any devices. Also, the processor will support 40 MP cameras with video capture capped at 24 fps video, alongside a 16 MP camera with up to 60 fps video and 8 MP cameras with 120 fps.

The Helio X30 smartphone processor may be launched soon, since appearances on benchmarking database suggest that a device might be unveiled in the near future. On other reports, Helio X30 SoC could be seen powering some high-end smartphones in Asian markets during the second half of 2017.
