"Assassin's Creed" Movie opens mid-week garnering a weak sale record $10.3 million on the three-day Christmas weekend. It is expected to finish the four-day Holiday with $22.5 million total earnings for its North American run. But these figures come short from its production budget of $125 million.

The Michael Fassbender starrer, however, can reverse the outcome by looking overseas. Reports say that it has earned $36.7 million in its global debut on Monday. More so, France and Spain posted the top overseas debuts for the "Assassin's Creed" Movie with $5.1M) and $2M, respectively, Box Office PRO reported.

Though intrigues hook Brangelina as the reason for low returns to the film as their loyal fans started a boycott propaganda against Marion Cotillard. The French actress has already dismissed the issue but blind items kept on following her.

Disappointing Review Results

According to Rotten Tomatoes, among the one hundred and four reviews that came in for the "Assassin's Creed" Movie, only a few has given the movie a positive rating. The classified reviews brought in only 20 fresh versus 84 rotten votes as of this writing.

Critics have been quoted saying that ["Assassin's Creed"] Movie is the Anakin Skywalker of video game movies, a [likely] project meant to redeem a bedeviled sub-genre which merely leaves it covered in [even] more darkness.

Another remarked on the movie review aggregator that the title of First Great Video Game Movie [is] still on the table. Looking at the positive reviews, the scores provided did not earn as much to redeem the "Assassin's Creed" Movie.

Video Game Movies

The fate of "Assassin's Creed" Movie is not something of surprise since only few Video Game turned into movie fared well in the box-office. This movie has been sandwiched by two other launches of Video Game movie adaptation, "Hitman: Agent 47" and "Warcraft".

Though the timeline for "Assassin's Creed" Movie has not reached its end yet and more reviews are still expected to put their lease on the movie.  So it is not the time yet to decide on its fate. But its premier at the box-office coincides with the mammoth "Star Wars: Rogue One".

Meanwhile, Brangelina and Marion Cotillard has nothing to do with the returns for the movie.
