Updates and improvements are heading toward Bungie's "Destiny" game. The developer recently announced that they are preparing special events, new gameplay modes, and more content for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.

Bungie said that "work will continue" for "Destiny," adding that the game is "never finished" and they are prepping "playtests of new content to share with each other," Express reported. The developer assured that they'll have "more to show" for players in 2017.

Bungie's announcement came after "The Dawning" event's launch on "Destiny." "The Dawning", which runs for three weeks until Jan. 3, is a festive event that introduces Sparrow Racing, new exotic quests, and the comeback of Icebreaker. Thanks to the three-week "The Dawning" event of "Destiny," players will have free gifts that can be claimed from the Postmaster.

The "Destiny" event was released with a big patch called "The One About The Dawning," which presents new Quests that can be accessed via the Tower from Eva Levante, Amanda Holliday, and Commander Zavala. A Record Book was also added for new rewards or loot during the winter season.

"The Dawning" introduces a competitive mode to the cooperative missions of "Destiny" like the Sparrow Racing League does. Bungie Community Manager David "Deej" Dague told Digital Trends that "The Dawning" expands the game's universe and allows players to learn how that world operates. Other "Destiny" expansions released in the past are "Rise of Iron" and "The Taken King."

Dague described "The Dawning" as a "celebration of survival and togetherness." It binds together thousands of refugees who sought the Traveler for safety, and allows them to share their culture with each other.

Other gameplay ideas are certainly coming to "Destiny," but Dague kept mum about the plans currently formulating. Bungie assured fans that future gameplays will be "diverse" and surprising, but the developer also ensures that the expansions are still familiar.

"We want to make sure that people still feel like this is the same character that they nurture and upgrade and customize throughout their own personal story arc in playing the game," Dague explained to Digital Trends.

"Sparrow Racing League" has two new race tracks. "Destiny" also made changes to Xur recently; he started selling Exotic Shards again but stopped retailing Exotic Weapon Ornaments.
