The tradition goes on every year, everyone enjoys the countdown until Christmas, the panic and rush of buying Christmas presents and the excitement about the food preparation. And speaking of food, most people can't help but take in thousands of calories from the holiday feasts, according to reports.

Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) reported Wednesday that an average person can consume about 6,000 calories on Christmas day alone, not to mention the other calorie intake from other parties before and after Christmas. Because of this, health experts suggest that in order to burn these calories, it will take a four and a half hours walk.

Although you shouldn't really feel guilty about what you eat on Christmas day, because it only happens once a year and you don't eat like it's Christmas every day, there are still many ways for you to counteract the holiday calories.

Ice skating

If you don't know it yet, an hour you spend ice skating can burn as much as 381 calories! If you haven't tried it yet, now is the best time to give it a try.

Last minute Christmas shopping

Burn 95 calories by having to wrestle with other last minute Christmas shoppers for your gifts for families and friends before all of the decent sale items run out.

Bake Christmas goodies

When you decide to bake some goodies or cook a meal for dinner, your walking back and forth to the fridge for an hour will actually help you burn about 95 calories.

Run errands for your parents or do them some chores

Don't stop fidgeting. Move around the house and do your parents some favor. Don't just sit around and watch TV on the couch. If you keep moving, you'll also never realize how much calories you're actually burning.
