Apple's new MacBook Pro, which was revealed in October didn't get a good reception from consumers due to its poor battery life. The explanation for this is that Apple used the older battery design since the new one failed a "key test."

Higher-Capacity Battery Failed Key Test

Apple didn't have enough time to solve its battery problem with its MacBook Pro's expected release date, Tech Radar reported. According to reports, Apple planned to utilize higher-capacity battery for its new MacBook Pro. However, the new battery didn't pass a key test, which is why the giant tech company opted to use the older design.

This could probably be the reason why the MacBook Pro, especially the ones with the Touch Bar, has weaker battery compared to 2015's MacBook Pro. Had the new battery passed the key test, the new professional-grade laptop would have a battery life that would last for 10 hours and not just six.

Less Resource for new Macs

There are also reports on the tech giants lack of dedication to keep its product up to date as Apple has allocated fewer resources on developing new Macs in the past few years, The Verge reported. The company has also removed engineers from its macOS division, which means it lacks a strong development team on that aspect. Instead, reports claim that Apple is putting more resources on creating iOS, iPad, and iPhone, which is where the bulk of its income comes from.

A lot of staffs has been leaving Apple's Mac department due to an uncertain future. These employees also feel like they are wasting time as they need to work on so many different prototypes.

There are no official comments from Apple about this issue, but CEO Tim Cook reassured employees saying they are still focused on the Mac unit. He said that great desktops are expected to arrive soon.
