Samsung Galaxy J3 Android smartphone is about to hit the United States through the country's three wireless carriers. US carriers Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile will be making the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 model available starting in January while Sprint will be selling the new handset with a name, the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge.

According to GSM Arena, the US version of the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge (2017 model) may be different from the international sibling, with some features such as the cameras being kept identical to those with the original Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016 model) for the US market.

The new Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge (2017 model) will retain its predecessor's fixed-focus 5-megapixel rear shooting camera along with the 2-megapixel camera configuration found in the previous Samsung Galaxy J3, 2016 model. Video capture will also remain static, at 720-pixel resolution, according to PhoneArena.

However, its internal components will have a huge facelift. GSM Arena has reported that Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge will be equipped with an octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC from mobile chipmaker giant Qualcomm, along with a 2GB of RAM, and a whopping 16GB of expandable storage.

As with the Android version, the J3 will be powered by a newer version of the Android OS. According to Venturebeat, it's the 6.0 Marshmallow and not the latest Android version, the Android 7.0 Nougat, that everyone is expecting for.

As for the power generation, so far nothing has changed or improved in the handset's battery capacity, it still the same. The new Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge offers the same 2600mAh as with the previous model of the Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 model.

Fortunately, usage time will get improved this time, thanks to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow's new power-saving Doze feature.

While the three carriers, Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile will be selling the new Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge, there is no word on pricing yet.

In addition, it also unknown whether other US-based wireless carriers will be selling the new Samsung Galaxy J3 2017, according to Android Authority.
