The end of February 2017 would bring the biggest names in the mobile communications sector to gather in Barcelona, Spain. Mobile World Congress 2017 will be held between February 27 and March 2, 2017.

As customary, the press will be allowed entry to the Mobile World Congress a few days earlier so that highlights of items and products can be presented even before the main event takes place. The event will highlight a first look at the most anticipated smartphones of next year, according to Switch.

The biggest names that people are on the lookout for are Samsung and Apple. Samsung is expected to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge during Mobile World Congress, which is a make-or-break device after the much-ballyhooed Galaxy Note 7 debacle.

Apple, on the other hand, is being looked into for its latest offering of the rumored iPhone 8. Much have been said about the new flagship from having three sizes this coming year to Mobile World Congress, to a glass backing that is a feature not only for aesthetic purposes but apparently to facilitate true untethered wireless charging from across the room as long as it's in the range of the charging transmitter.

Mobile World Congress might also be where will see the re-emergence of the Nokia brand with a rumored two units to be unveiled by Finnish phone maker HMD Global who is licensed by Nokia to create the new smartphones.

Sony is also anticipated to release its two mysterious phones that were only identified by their internal names: G3112 and G3121. It is not clear if the two will be aligned with any of the Xperia lines of Sony phones.

LG is also anticipated for its offering. Although it LG G5 was a good phone, its modular approach did not quite sit well and was seen through its lukewarm reception. The LG G6 is most assuredly going back to an all integrated design when it is presented Mobile World Congress. It is anticipated to feature an iris scanner and keeping its dual-camera approach Pocket-Lint reported.

Other notable smartphones and flagships expected to cause waves in the next Mobile World Congress are HTC 11, Huawei P10, Lenovo Moto Z, and Xiaomi. It is also expected that other manufacturers will be present like Asus and ZTE, it is not clear if these companies would present handsets during the event.
