AMD RX 490 vs NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti: Power and Performance

While it is already known to many that GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be the last piece of NVIDIA Pascal architecture before it moves on to Volta architecture, it is still unknown to some that the Pascal GPU will sport a 10GB or 10240MB GDDR memory. According to PCGamesn, a spotted GP102 GPU was spotted in the database entries of a benchmarking site where netizens referred to as the GTX 1080 Ti.

AMD Radeon RX 490, on the other hand, features 16GB units for the top-tier and 8GB units for the low-end one. For this reason, it is presumed that Radeon GPU is more powerful than GeForce because the former has reportedly high computing performance of 24 TFlops for half-precision and 12 TFlops for single-precision.

NVIDIA is known for selling chips at a higher price point, say for example, the previous ones that usually start at $800. Budget-wise, AMD RX 490 is said to be cheaper compared to the Pascal-based chipsets although there is no information revealed regarding the price of AMD chipset.

AMD RX 490 Will Be Released Earlier than NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti?

As 2016 is about to close, rumor round ups regarding the release date of the two most anticipated GPUs for 2017 has started circulating online suggesting that AMD RX 490 will be released earlier than NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti. While NVIDIA's Jen Hsun Huang is expected to deliver keynote during CES 2017, AMD on the other hand is rumored to release Vega-based chipset sometime in December 2016 according to MobiPicker.
