Starting today, some Sony Xperia XZ and X Performance owners should be on the lookout for an Android Nougat update. Sony has just started pushing out Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade to select Xperia XZ and X performance owners that currently enrolled in the company's beta program, Android Police reported.

Sony also highlighted some of the big changes that Nougat might bring in the table, these include longer battery life, manual camera controls, Multi-window support, changes to Sony's launcher, and more.

What To Expect From Android Nougat Update:
According to SlashGear, the Android 7.0 Nougat update brings to Xperia X Performance a slew of new of features such as improved sensitivity of the Xperia's touchscreen, support for split-screen for apps, manual options in the device's camera, more improved stamina mode for power savings, and a bug fix for the device's accelerometer.

The device's messaging app gets updated allowing users to share video and audio through messaging. Smartphone camera also gets more control, adding manual controls and shutter controls on the device. The device's home screen has also received Google Now integration, allowing more personalized content.

The update, which has been initially made on selected regions, will also roll out to Xperia X Performance Dual devices apart from the Xperia X Performance. The Xperia X Performance and Xperia X Performance Dual have been the first Sony smartphones to officially receive the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade.

Rival companies such as Samsung and others handset makers are lagging behind in terms of official Android Nougat support for its flagship smartphones.

Other Xperia X Devices Included In the Nougat Update:

As reported earlier by Droid Life, Sony has committed to Nougat upgrades for a total of nine devices, which include the standard Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia Z5 line, Xperia Z4 Tablet, and Xperia Z3+. However, some of these smartphones are not likely to receive the Nougat update before this year ends, according to PhoneArena .

The Xperia X Performance:

The Sony Xperia X Performance was released on June this year as part of the company's Xperia X series. The handset features a 5-inch Full HD display with 441 ppi, a 23MP front shooter that can record up to 1080p video, and a fingerprint scanner.

Powering this smartphone is a quad-core 2.15 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and an Adreno 530 chip for graphics. In addition, the device also has a 2,700 mAh battery that can charge up to 60 percent in just half an hour using the innovative Quick Charge 2.0 technology.

Sony officially confirmed the initial release of the Android 7.0 Nougat update on the company's mobile blog.
