Your career is a significant part of your life, but when you feel like just dragging your feet to get up in the morning, you hate Sunday nights because it's Monday on the next day, your stomach knots at the thought of your workload, then you clearly are not happy with your job anymore.

You are not the only one in this case. If you feel like you are stuck in a job but can't afford to be jobless since you have bills to pay, and can't even go back to school, here are some of the things that Kyle, author of Ask A Career Coach series, would like to share.

Take a deep breath and think. You can be impulsive in deciding for what you want to happen with your career. Quitting your job is a risk which is why you have to think about it. You can stick to your current job while you start to search for other career opportunities.

Identify and understand the problem. Have a reflection on the things that you really hate about your job, and list them down. This will help you realize the things that you should be looking for when you try to find a new job. Plus it won't make sense to just quit and look for a new company when can't even figure out what's wrong with yours.

The problem could just either be your job, your company or your industry, or it could be all of them. You course of action may vary depending on what you have figured out. If your job is the cause of your unhappiness, explore other career options for you. Talk to your friends, utilize LinkedIn and find new connections. If it is your company that's your problem, it might be about time to start sending out applications. But if you hate your industry, you clearly hate what you do. Identify your skills, discover where you are good at and start from there.
