Google's Nexus 7 tablet is slated for a 2016 release after rumors that the Taiwan-based phone manufacturer HTC will produce Google Nexus 7 after their successful collaboration with Pixel and Pixel XL phones. However, latest news surfaced online with the device's production schedule being delayed after Huawei previously refused to team up with Google.

According to Guide, Google originally contracted Huawei to create Google Nexus 7 in order to finish it for a December 2016 release. On a recent update, the Chinese company has declined to do the job when Google did not allow the use of the former's logo.

Huawei has a good reputation of producing smartphones for Google after the successful stint for Nexus 6P in 2015. However, the disagreement on how the Huawei brand should be included in the phone's branding did not affect the Chinese company's interest on working with Google, though not as their phone manufacturer in the future.

Huawei's Consumer Business VP Colin Giles reiterated the idea and would stay in the shadows of Google as a nameless contractor, considering the amount of investment they put up in the development of Nexus 6P.

The recent misunderstanding between companies affected the pre-production schedules for Nexus 7. Now, the design and development may get delayed and the tablet's announcement date will most probably be affected, as a 2016 release will now be a very slim chance.

On another note, the upcoming Nexus 7 could present a new name since Google dropped the name "Nexus" in its smartphones and used Pixel X and Pixel XL. The new tablet could be called "Pixel Pro" or "Pixel 7."

If the smartphone will still be called "Nexus 7," it is speculated to feature a 7-inch display with AMOLED screen. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 829 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, Mobile&Apps reported.

The Snapdragon 835 is based on 10mm technology, supported with an Adreno 620 which promises around 27 percent better performance than the 14nm chip present in the Google Pixel phones.

In its optics department, it carries a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5,100mAh battery and a USB Type-C connectivity. One of the big changes on the Google Nexus 7 is that it will be running in Google's new Andromeda OS.
