One of the oldest player is the mobile industry is back. Nokia is said to unveil their plans on how to conquer the smartphone market in 2017.

Phonearena revealed that Nokia is making the announcement and possibly the unveiling of Nokia android smartphones at Mobile World Congress in 2017. Confirming these reports is HMD Global attendance in the said even. HMD Global is the company who now have the license to release Nokia mobile phones for the next ten years.

HMD Global is expected to announce at least two Android smartphones. First is the Nokia D1C, which is rumored to use Android 7.0 Nougat and will be powered by 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. D1C is also rumored to be equipped with 3GB of RAM backed by at least 16GB or 32GB internal memory.

The mid-range Nokia smartphone also has a 5.5 inch screen HD and a 16-megapixel rear camera. As for the other rumored Nokia Android smartphone, Yahoo News has learned that it will be called Nokia P1. It will have 2K AMOLED display and it will come in two sizes - the 5.2 and 5.5 inches - which is going to be powered by Snapdragon 820/821 chip.

Other Projects

Aside from their plans to release Android smartphones, Nokia is also expanding their market reach in other areas as well. According to sources, the company is planning to enter digital health and even automotive and consumer electronics. There are also plans to make their presence known in VR technologies.

Nokia needs to get ahead of the competition if they want consumers to notice their smartphones. It is a tough market to compete in and they really want to make a mark, they need to be able to deliver something new to entice users.
