Earlier this month, GoPro producers of Karma recalled the $799 drone for reported issues of the unit losing power during operation.

GoPro just recalled their first-ever drone, called the Karma, for the unit simply lost all power during operation. The Verge reported that there are approximately 2,500 Karma drones sold as of Oct. 23.

However, even if only a few of this units are reported to have faulty power systems causing them to lose power in mid-flight, all of the sold units are considered impacted and therefore subject to the recall by GoPro. No injuries or property damage due to the Karma drone's power defect have been reported so far.

The recalled GoPro Karma Drones can be returned either to GoPro directly or to wherever the buyer purchased the defective unit. For the moment, the company is not offering any exchanges for the Karma Drones pending an investigation to find out what caused the drones to lose power.

Although production issues were raised by GoPro executives surrounding the GoPro Karma Drones during last week's earnings call, the power issue of the drones was never mentioned. CEO Nick Woodman stated that they are working closely with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Federal Aviation Administration. Woodman also stated being sorry and to have inconvenienced their customers, citing they are taking steps to make the return and refund process as easy as possible.

While there is no replacement offered as of yet for the Karma Drones, GoPro has offered compensation to their customers who will avail themselves of the call to return their Karma. GoPro is offering its American buyers a free Hero 5 Black camera once they return the Drone and its accessories. That is, of course, on top of the full refund each Karma owner will get, according to Engadget.
