Acer just launched the world's thinnest laptop, Acer Swift 7. Check out what's cool and not cool about the ultra-slim device!

Acer Swift 7 review: Tech specs

Swift 7 is only 9.98 mm thin. The 13.3-unch FHD IPS display packs full HD resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

It's got a rigid aluminum chassis with ergonomic design that brings a huge advantage to those longing for a light notebook for work and play.

Under the hood, a whopping 8 GB of RAM is paired with 256 GB of internal memory, Wired reported. Acer Swift 7 is powered by Intel Kaby Lake chip that clocks at 1.2 GHz. The beauty will fulfill your all-day binge-watching session for 9 hours.

Acer Swift 7 is intended for premium market with its $999 pricetag.

Acer Swift 7 review: The drawbacks

Aside from the impressive and ergonomic design, Acer Swift 7 apparently has some drawbacks. For instance, it packs two ports of USB C located on the right side. However, one of these ports is used for Display port support - which leaves user with only one port for data or power.

Judging from the performance, Acer Swift 7 is not as great as the competitors, LaptopMag reported. We have seen the older siblings with Core M5-6Y54 offering better performance.

However, when not compared, Acer Swift 7 actually performs decently when used for browsing, writing in Word document, or editing in Google spreadsheet. It scores 2,719 in benchmark test. Apparently, this score is on par with the test result from HP Elite X2 which has been released earlier in January at a cheaper price.

Another dealbreaker is the non-backlit keyboard which is a little bit outdated for a modern-day laptop. The spacious trackpad, however, is convenient to use.

Acer Swift 7: Should you buy?

Acer Swift 7 is incredibly slim. If portability is the biggest consideration, this ultra-thin book is a solid choice.

However, if you are looking for great device performance without caring about how thin it can be, there are better options for that.
