Despite several rumors circulating regarding the development and release of Bethesda's "The Elder Scrolls 6," no official announcments have been made, but fans of the game remain up and about to find out whether the rumors are true or were they just ploys to grab attention.

The release of "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition" has in part rekindled the interest of hardcore gamers. The "Special Edition" contains revamped graphics with no new features and the same familiar bugs found in its 2011 version. Because of this, gamers question whether Bethesda is holding out for a future installment of the much loved role-playing game.

Furthermore, Bethesda has adopted a new policy regarding reviews, but it doesn't certainly offer much insight. In the company's blog, several days before "Special Edition's" launch, they announced that Press-Review copies will be available only a day before the actual release, GazetteXtra reported. This begs the question if the company is simply keeping a tight lid on things.

Gamers have dumped hours upon hours for five years since the release of "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" back in 2011. Now the demand is growing for "The Elder Scrolls 6." However, despite rumors flooding the internet, there has not been an official announcement and Bethesda has maintained that the game is still not in development.

Bethesda Vice-President Pete Hines stated back in August that "The Elder Scrolls 6" was not part of the company's immediate itinerary. The announcement was met with serious doubts because, in the past, the game developer has been known to make surprise announcements after denying statements.

The closest thing to an announcement from Bethesda came at the "Elder Scrolls Online" launch where Hines talked about other publishers comparing how they would handle the development of sequels. His nonchalant approach to the subject amounts to an admission that a new game is on the way, Digital Spy reported. Moreover the game developer is advertising for a "Quest Designer" experienced with the game's Construction Set.
