The "Pokemon GO" catch chance calculator promises to help players improve their game. The new calculator makes use of a theory that assesses the probability of catching a particular Pokemon.

 What it the GUCT?

The acronym stands for Grand Unified Catch Theory. This is a basis for the chance calculator and in catching Pokemon in the game, according to Gamepress. The theory touches on the frequency of wild Pokemon, their flee rate, movesets and catch rate. The chances of success for curveballs, throw and medal bonus are also covered by this theory.

Trainer Level Influences Pokemon Level

Two trainers at the same level will basically catch the same Pokemon with almost the moveset, and Individual Values (IV) as well as the height and weight. However, the level of the Pokemon changes depending on the level of the Trainer catching it. Based on the GUCT, Pokemon spawns are random, and uniformly distributed except for the Pokemon CP level. That will depend on the Trainer's level.

Pokemon Flee Rate

The Pokemon Flee Rate has also been investigated. It seems there is only a factor that determines when a Pokemon will flee or not. It will only flee if the Trainer fails to catch it based on the time allotted

What About Pokemon Moveset?

The GUCT researchers have conducted a detailed study but found out that the movesets seems equally distributed among all the wild Pokemon. However, no moveset research has been conducted among Pokemon hatched from an egg.

Understanding "Pokemon GO" Catch Rate

Catching Pokemon is determined by three factors namely, the use of Poke Balls, limited chance to catch Pokemon or it flees. Initially, player will not have any throw bonus unless a medal bonus is awarded. The capture rate varies from 56 percent to 16 percent. Many of them such as the Caterpie have a 40 percent catch rate. Understandably, the uncommon ones such the Snorlax are much harder since their catch rate is only 16 percent.
