Looks like good news for those looking for a Note 7 alternative as Beijing-based smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship that bears a strong resemblance to Samsung's controversy-plagued smartphone.

On Tuesday, Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Mi Note 2, at its 'Curved to Impress' event in Beijing. The most striking feature of the smartphone is the use of both front as well as back 3D curve glass, which gives the Mi Note 2 a dual-edge curved display identical to Galaxy S7 Edge or Note 7. Xiaomi dubbed it as a two-sided curved design. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be up for grabs in three variants:

The last comes with support for global LTE bands, which provides support for up to 37 LTE bands. In terms of color options, the Mi Note 2 will be available in Glacial Silver and Piano Black. The device will sport an aluminium build.

Moreover, several sources confirm that Xiaomi is also offering a virtual SIM, hinting MVNO support. The smartphone is slated to hit the store shelves on Nov. 1, and is currently up for pre-orders in China.

The new 5.7-inch Mi Note 2 features 1080p display and it sports a mammoth 22.56MP main camera with Sony IMX318 sensor. While the Mi Note 2's camera is not equipped with optical stabilization or laser auto-focus, it offers electronic image stabilization that facilitates 4K video capture. It features an 8MP f/2.0 front snapper with Sony's IMX268 plus auto-focus, Engadget reported.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 comes with the company's third-gen beautification software, and a unique feature which ensures no one in the shot is blinking, by taking burst shots. The software then picks the best shot and replaces the faces of whoever blinked with the correct ones from previous shots.
