The newly launched Google Pixel phones will have Android 7.1 Nougat pre-installed upon purchase. Aside from Pixel phones, the latest mobile operating system is reported to be rolling out in chosen android-operated devices in December. Find out the lineups of android devices here.

Android 7.1 Nougat for Nexus Phones

Premium android features might not be exclusively running in Google Pixel phones sooner as Android 7.1 Nougat is reported to be rolling out to Nexus devices in December. According to Digital Trends, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player are among the android-operated devices to receive the updates.

Android 7.1 Nougat for Pixel Devices

Aside from the newly launched Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Pixel C is reported to be receiving the latest Android 7.1 beta in December. However, as added by the same publication, Google Assistant will remain exclusive to Pixel phones for the meantime.

So far, Nexus and Pixel are the two reported lineups to receive the Android 7.1 Nougat updates. It remains unclear as to when will other manufacturers start rolling out the latest android version to their devices but according to Digital Trends, it could not be expected anytime soon.

What's New with Android 7.1 Nougat?

In the absence of Google Assistant, great features can still be expected from Android 7.1 Nougat and one of those is the swipe-up split-screen gesture, according to Android Police. Furthermore, App shortcuts will also be featured in the latest version where the user can hold the app icon and quickly proceed to necessary actions.

In addition, power cycling is another option found in power button. Switching off the phone is not necessary because pressing and holding the power button is as good as turning it off. Toggle actions through gestures are also available in the latest version where the users can launch the camera by pressing the power button twice.

Another great feature is called the Image Keyboard where users can send emojis, stickers and GIFs to contact directly. The addition of 100 new emojis has already been approved by Unicode Emoji Subcommittee in July.
