The final chapter of supernatural series "The Vampire Diaries" will see old characters coming back for Season 8.

Speaking to TVGuide, Creator Julie Plec says that they have a lot of plans to pay tribute to what they have done in the past. Noting that the final season of "The Vampire Diaries" is shortened to only 13 episodes, she says they are thinking of clever ways to integrate their favorite moments and characters while reintegrating past elements of the show.

There are a lot of events and themes Plec says she wants to bring back, such as the decade dances, the carnival of Season 2 where Caroline (Candice King) became a vampire. Plec hints that they are also revisiting Stefan's (Paul Wesley) ripper past as the Ripper of Monterey, Entertainment Weekly reported.

It is confirmed that old faces will be coming back to the final season of "The Vampire Diaries." One of which would be Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) who was a werewolf turned hybrid and then back into a werewolf. Everyone is still hoping for the return of Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert/Katherine Pierce, in the series.

Though we still have no clear idea what would be in store for Bonnie (Kat Graham), we can speculate that she will be relentless in snatching back Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) from the control of the Armory Monster.

A new character will also be introduced in episode 4, wherein it is rumored that Peter Maxwell (Joel Gretsch) could be the father of Matthew Donovan (Zach Roerig). Quoting Plec when asked about this theory, she replied: I think fans are filled with ideas and lots of creativity and intelligence, so they'll just have to wait and see, end quote.

"The Vampire Diaries" returns on Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
