Of all the products and devices Microsoft has in its inventory, one item is oddly absent: a smartphone. New rumors are circulating that Micosoft Surface Phone might make an appearance in Microsoft's fall hardware event in New York on Oct. 26.

A leak from WMPowerUser says the device is code-named Project Juggernaut Alpha, which has been associated with a rumor about the Surface Phone before. The leak further states that the handset showed up in logs via GPS 3 years ago on Microsoft's Campus. The site was said to be in Studio H where the Windows Phone Design team is located.

We already have speculated why the Surface Phone might not be unveiled on Oct. 26, but the rumors refuse to die down. It could be a welcome sign that people are indeed anticipating this smartphone attached to Microsoft's Surface line.

Another indicator that Microsoft might unveil the Surface Phone is that they quietly dropped Nokia Lumia from its US online store, which sources say is for Microsoft to focus on the Surface Phone instead. In a report from Mspoweruser released Oct. 12, it stated that the Nokia Lumia icon disappeared from Verizon's online store.

Below are the rumored specs of the Surface Phone:

The Display is a 1440×2560 16:9 AMOLED 5.5″ Clear Black Gorilla Glass 4. An Intel Atom x3 (SoFIA) 64-bit processor. The back camera is a21MP PureView Zeiss 6-lens and the front is an 8MP Zeiss Wide-Angle. RAM comes in 3GB (lower end) or 4GB (higher end).

The Surface Phone is rumored to run Windows 10 (Mobile) with storage options at 64GB (low end) and 128GB (high end) expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD. It might also feature a Surface Pen similar to the Note 5. It will feature USB-C connectors, wireless charging capability and all encased in an Aluminium and Magnesium unibody.

We have a few more days of waiting to see if the Surface Phone does make an appearance in New York and finally break the surface in an unveiling on Oct. 26th.
