Networking has always been deemed as one of the best tools to help your career. It is especially helpful to know as many people as you can when you're starting out.

It was previously reported that learning to network is one of the things that fresh graduates need to do in order to succeed in the modern workplace. Building one's professional contacts begin in college.

Gathering referrals from your family and friends can also help you in your job hunt. Ask your family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances if they know of any job vacancies that would be perfect for you. Stay connected with your batch mates as well.

USA Today College reported that reaching out to your network can help you get ahead in your career. There are different ways that your contacts and acquaintances can help you in your job hunt.

For those who are still trying to decide what to do, you can check LinkedIn's Alumni Tool to see a list of professionals from the same school and with the same credentials as you. With this, you can see that the jobs that they have now is a possible career path that you can follow. You can also reach out to them and ask them if they are open to an informational interview, which is done over email.

For those who are waiting for a company's response to their application, you might try applying at other places too. Don't stop your application just because your dream company has not replied yet.

You can also get your network to motivate you to send more applications. You could enlist a headhunter or an executive recruiter. You could also try having an accountability buddy to whom you will answer to if you fail to achieve a goal that you've committed to, like sending out three applications a week.

For those who are still stuck even after sending several applications to various companies, try contacting someone from your desired field and have them check your resume. Ask for their feedback on how you can make your application better.
