Despite the hype going around the upcoming launching of Google Nexus 2016 phones, nobody has ever confirmed that Google officially replaced Nexus with Pixel brand. There is still a high possibility that Google has retained the Nexus brand after all and the upcoming smartphone will be called Nexus 7P.

October 4 is going to be a big day for Google as the company is slated to host an event in San Francisco for the launching of Google Nexus 2016 phones. For the past few months, the 2016 mobile flagship has been presumed by many as Pixel X and Pixel XL as the replacement for the Nexus brands according to Mashable.

Since no one has ever confirmed the existence of Pixel X and Pixel XL phones, it is assumed that Google has retained the Nexus brand and the upcoming device will be called Nexus 7P. Mashable also reported that the presumed Pixel phones will be an indication of a fresh start for Google in the hardware business.

For this reason, Nexus loyalists around the world are holding off until the Google Nexus 2016 phones will hit the shelves in October 20 but are unlikely to go onsale. Shipping will officially start two weeks after the launching of the device PC Advisor, reported.

For technical information, the rumored specs of Google Nexus 2016 phones include Android 7.0 or Nougat for the OS. They are expected to come in 5-inch and 5.5-inch with 32GB of storage for the basic models and still unclear whether the two phones have higher storage like 64GB and 128GB. Google Nexus 2016 phones prices will start at $649.00

HTC was the contracted manufacturer of Google Nexus 2016 phones which are initially called Sailfish and Marlin. Originally, it was split between HTC and Huawei but it turns out that the latter will be the one to craft the rumored Nexus 7 tablet.
