Apple iPhone 7 Jet Black casing has been a popular choice ever since the launching of the new smartphones in September. But Apple admits problematic mass-production of the said casing because of the availability of materials including the strenuous process. Could it be possible that the popular color choice will soon be phased out?

Low casing production is the identified reason of the global shortage of iPhone 7 Jet Black with a production rate of 60 to 70 percent which means there are 30 percent of the casing that did not passed the quality standards of Apple according to BGR. It appears that Jet Black iPhones are difficult to manufacture compared to other colors due to the polishing process that the units have to undergo.

In the launching of iPhone 7 during the Apple Event in September, the tech giant company revealed that the high-gloss Jet Black finish is obtained through a nine-step precision of anodization and polishing process as reported by Mac Rumors.  In addition, analyst Ming -Chi Kuo of KGI Securities revealed that there are about 30 to 40 percent of iPhone Jet Black units that need to be retooled for not passing Apple quality standards.

Furthermore, the analyst said that the early recorded global shortage is not entirely due to demands from the market but because of problematic mass production from Apple's end. The unexpected demand sprung from Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco has exacerbated the problems in production. The analyst predicted that iPhone 7 units will fall short in shipments by the end of 2016. This is similar to the case of iPhone 6s where shipments fall short in 2015.

The only store where availability of iPhone 7 Jet Black can be found is the Apple Stores located in France. The Jet Black iPhones remain scarce in other Apple Stores. However, other colors are available.
