It looks like the recently concluded Apple launch event didn't quite turn out to be what gadget freaks were hoping for as aside from launching the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2, the Cupertino based tech giant remained mum about other highly anticipated devices, including the iPad Mini 5, that fans have been waiting for with bated breath.

The iPad Mini 4 was released around the same time last year and some optimistic Apple fans hazarded a guess that it's much awaited successor, the iPad Mini 5 will be launched this month. Much to their dismay, the Apple launch event concluded without shedding more light on the iPad Mini 5 release date and other details.

This has stirred conversations among gadgets buffs regarding when the iPad Mini 5 will actually hit the store shelves.

Although Apple kept the device under wrap, rumors running rampant indicate that the iPad Mini 5 is most likely to make an appearance at an event expected to be held in March 2017. This speculation stems from the fact that Apple usually debuts its new devices in March, so this is quite a possibility. This year, Apple launched the iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7, ChristianTimes reported.

iPad Mini 5 Specs & Features

As far as the purported tablet's specs and features are concerned, several reports claim that the iPad Mini 5 will come equipped with pressure-sensitive 3D Touch technology. In other words, the device will be quite efficient, contributing to high productivity for users.

The rumored Apple tablet is likely to sport a 7.9-inch display. Moreover, the iPad Mini 5 is expected to be thinner as compared to it precursors. As opposed to the 6.1mm thickness of current-gen iPads, the purported tablet is said to be just 5mm in thickness. This sparked speculations hinting that the upcoming device will oust the 3.5mm jack, just like what Apple did with the new iPhone 7, according to reports on PC Tablet.

Under the hood, the iPad Mini 5 is likely to pack the enhanced A9 processor coupled with a 12-core 7th Generation PowerVR graphics. In terms of storage, the device will come with 32GB built-in storage and 3GB of RAM.

But that's all! If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, the new tablet could be water-proof and dust-proof. The iPad Mini 5 will sport an 8MP primary camera and a 1.2MP front snapper. Apple is also said to get the device certified by the IP authorities.

The battery capacity of the imminent iPad successor is likely to get shrunk in favor of that extra thinness. Nevertheless, the device will still give a similar battery life of its precursor, in spite of the reduced battery size.

As of now, these are mere rumors and readers are advised to take them with a pinch of salt until Apple either confirms or debunks them.
