Not a lot of people can see behind the muscles and the face. Actor Gerard Butler did not only get good grades in school but he was offered a place to study law at Glasgow University. He made a name for himself in the place before he got into acting.

This Scottish actor, has already appeared on several movies and television shows. But he did not turn into acting until the later part of his career. Born in Renfrewshire, Scotland, the youngest of three kids went to St. Mirin's & St. Margaret's High School in Paisley. He was head boy at the school and got good grades. His grades were so respectable that he won a place to study law at the University of Glasgow. But here's the kicker, he attended Scottish Youth Theatre when he was a teenage boy. But that didn't last long. Because in Glasgow, Glamour cites, he became the president of the university's law society.

As the president, he said he "kind of blagged my way into" the role. However, his performing nerve got the best of him because he sang in a rock band called "Speed."

Before finishing his last year in law school, he took off to live in Venice Beach, California. He worked different and odd jobs to support his lifestyle. He traveled a lot and drank a lot too. Snapping out of his reverie, he returned to Scotland to finish his final year in law school.

When he graduated, he was able to secure a position at an Edinburgh law firm as a trainee lawyer. But his love for drinking and partying took over and missed a lot of work. He didn't make it as a lawyer. He then decided to move to London and pursue an acting career. "When I started out, I'm not sure I was actually in it for the right reasons. I wanted very much to be famous," he said.
