Nike has goofed up a new edition of Carolina Panthers' T-shirt. The limited edition that was listed for sale was taken off the website after the athletic apparel giant accidentally printed an 'NC' on a print of the state of South Carolina (SC).

The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina (NC). The Nike t-shirt was priced at $32 online.

"A small quantity of incorrect Carolina Panthers tee shirts was recently made available for sale. This product should not have been sold. We have removed it from sale and apologize for the error," Nike's North American media relations director said.

Carolina Panthers have played all their home games in Charlotte, NC except for their inaugural 1995 season, which was played in Clemson, SC. The team play their games at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte; the stadium also serves as the team headquarters.

The Panthers are supported through the Carolinas. Panther fans, especially from SC were outraged and dismayed with the "geographically challenged" T-shirt.

 "The Panthers are very much a North Carolina team but their appeal is wide-ranging in the Carolinas. Folks in South Carolina root for the Panthers as much as their northern neighbors (the Panthers did play in Clemson, S.C., during their inaugural 1995 season)," Will Brenson from CBS Sports said.

This mess up indicates that someone at Nike believed that the Panthers play in South Carolina or that North Carolina's silhouette looked like South Carolina.
