The first marijuana exhibit will be held in Oregon. There will be nine living marijuana plants will be displayed at the Oregon State Fair starting Friday, August 26.

Oregon Cannabis Business Council will be the one to display the living plants at the event, according to Kanas City. This will be the first time to display living cannabis plants at a state fair in the United States.

Although there will be live cannabis plants to be displayed at the event, people who will attend will not be given samples for smoking, and the plants are not for sale. Council president Donald Morse told ABC that the aim of the exhibit is not to tempt people to smoke marijuana, but it aims to educate people, and inform them that cannabis is the newest farm crop in Oregon.

Last year, the group had an informational booth about marijuana at the fair, and there were no complaints reported. This is the reason why Oregon State Fair allows to display live cannabis plants in this year's event.

The live plants that will be presented on Friday were selected by judges at a competition held last weekend. Judges chose three winners each in in the sativa, indica, and hybrid categories.

Oregon is one of the states in the U.S. that decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana, and among the state that authorize its use. In a recent report, the state has gathered $25.5 million in tax payments from recreational marijuana from January through the end of July.

Medical canabbis was legalized in 2014 in Oregon. The medical marijuana dispensaries have started collecting a 25% tax on recreational marijuana sales since January. The expected state revenue from recreational marijuana through June 2017 rose from $8.4 million to $35 million, Fox reported.

Although some states legalized the recreational cannabis, however, recreational pot is still illegal in 46 states.
